What You Should Know Before You Wear Red Lipstick

Do you remember the starlets in the old movies? From Marilyn Monroe to Grace Kelly. They looked gorgeous with their sinfully red lips. In those days, women were carefully groomed at all times. Their noses were perfectly powdered and their lips were very red.

Makeup technology then was a far cry from what is available today. Yet when many modern women wear red lipstick, they look harsh, garish or clownish instead of as sensual as they really should. Add on red blusher done too heavy handedly and they look like a bunch of clowns. What are they doing wrong.

How can you wear red makeup and look all the more gorgeous for it?

By the way, when I talk about red makeup, I mean red lipstick and blusher. Some women can even get away with coral eyeshadow and look even more stunning for it. I remember a Venetian Miss Universe who looked absolutely amazing wearing a red gown and red makeup. Even the eyeshadow was coral.

Actually, red lips are considered beautiful across cultures, throughout history. Geishas painted tiny bright red lips on their faces. Victorian beauties blushed beautifully and looked so pretty with their red lips, made redder by biting them before they meet the guys they fancy. Who can forget Snow White.

Hair as black as ebony, skin as white as snow and lips as red as blood, hence her name, Snow White. The invention of red lipstick lets any woman have those classic red lips if she dares.

Should you wear fire-engine red lipstick?

There are a few tricks to note when you put on really red lips. The golden rule is to highlight either the eyes or the lips. Not both at the same time. When you wear bold red lipstick and heavy eyeliner, with dark, smoky eye makeup and false eyelashes, with a low cut minidress, you would look more slutty than attractive. The trick is to play up one feature. In this intance the lips.

If you go for a bold mouth, play down the eyes with lighter, more natural eye makeup.

Another thing to note is the shade of red you use. If you have warm skin tones, go for coral red lipstick or any orange-red lipstick. A coral or orange red blush would look wonderful on you too, provided you apply it with a very light hand. Today’s sheer colors let you use colors that look very strong in the palette but appear like a transparent flush on your skin for a very flattering result.

If you have cool skin tones, go for a true red lipstick or any red lipstick with blue undertones. These are your best reds. Choose a similar shade for your blush.

Not sure whether you have warm coloring or cool coloring? Check out what’s my makeup colors for a color test you can do at home.

Then follow the instructions in 10 steps to glamour girl makeup which bases the entire look on bright red lips. The colors mentioned in that guide flatter warm coloring. If you have cool coloring, use a true red or blue-red lipstick, use a silver or lilac shadow instead of the bronze shadow and a dark gray shadow in place of the dark brown.

Now go a indulge yourself in that sexy red pout.

Acne And Makeup – Proper Techniques To Hide Your Acne With Makeup

Acne is of course a very disturbing and upsetting condition, but there are ways to help you to conceal the scars and pimples that are caused by this naturally occurring skin blemish. Makeup is a favorite choice of many people to hide their acne. One of the most important things to consider when choosing makeup to cover acne is that it is appropriate for the condition. Acne can be made worse by makeup that contains oil and so it is best to choose a brand that does not contain any. If you are not sure which is the best to choose, then it is recommended to get some advice from your dermatologist or skin care specialist rather than just guessing. If you have a lot of acne scarring then there are some special camouflage make-ups available nowadays. This can be great for concealing scarring and is also made for those with problem skin.

One of the main things to remember when you are using makeup for acne is to make sure that you skin is very clean and that you use a variety of cleansers that are good for skin with acne. You should also make sure that when you take off the makeup you are very careful to make sure that you have taken all of it off. It is very important to make sure that the skin is clear of all makeup so that the pores are clear and do not get clogged up.

One of the most useful types of makeup when you have acne is concealer. This is very good for covering up blemishes and also works well on scarring. You need to take care when applying this as it is the basis of your makeup and is a vital ingredient in allowing you to camouflage the acne well. Don’t use too thick a layer but just make sure that it is even so that it can work well. You also need to apply a foundation to give your skin a natural appearance to cover the fact that you have been using the concealer to cover your acne and not make it so obvious.

Acne and makeup are very well suited to each other despite what some people think, you just to have make sure that you look after the skin by keeping it clean and ensuring that you get it all off afterwards. It can make the skin seem to be a lot clearer and this can give the sufferer a lot more confidence but you need to make sure that buy a makeup that is suited to the condition. If you buy the right makeup and apply it well then it can make a real difference.

How to Keep Your Eyeliner from Smudging

Eyeliner can be a fickle friend. You start off together every morning, it makes your eyes more defined, your lashes thicker and all is right with your face. When you peak at your reflection in the bathroom mirror at lunch, suddenly you look like you’ve been on a 6 day bender. Why would your eyeliner do this to you?

Actually, it’s not the eyeliner, it’s you. Or more specifically it’s the oils on your eyelids that breakdown the eyeliner so it has nothing to adhere to and it spreads all over the place. Does this mean you are cursed to a lifetime of ill-defined, lackluster eyes? Absolutely not! You just need a few tricks and products up your sleeve.

You may have read to put foundation on your lids and a dusting of translucent powder to stop the oiliness. This trick will work on moderately oily eyelids, but not for me. I need to call in the big guns!

Eye Primers are usually made with silicone and they create a barrier that the oil can’t penetrate, allowing your eyeliner to remain exactly where you put it in the morning. I recommend using a primer on your eyelid as well as just underneath your lower lashline. The cult favorite of makeup artists is Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, but many more lines are now coming out with their own products such as the Too Faced Shadow Insurance. The Too Faced product is in a tube so you can squeeze more product out … more primer for your buck!

The perfect combo for me is eye primer and Waterproof Eyeliner. Waterproof liner is not just for people who like to have defined eyes while swimming (and who are those people??). Waterproof liner is a great option for an oily lid, the product is designed not to break down with moisture. The liners come in pencil and liquid, in drugstores and department store brands. My favorites include Revlon ColorStay pencils, Urban Decay 24/7 pencils, Dior and Lancome waterproof pencils. Combined with a primer, you are not going to get any sort of movement from your eyeliner.

Now if that isn’t enough ammo for you, some makeup lines have their own waterproofing products. Benefit’s She-Lac is a sealant that comes with 5 different brushes to seal in your eyeliner, eyebrows, lipstick and more. It has alcohol in it, so be careful around your eyes. Make Up For Ever has an alcohol-free product called Eye Seal that will create a waterproof seal over your pencil liner or powder eyeshadow.

Just making a few simple product changes will allow you feel confident in your eyeliner (and makeup ability) all day long. Your smeary, smudged eyeliner will be a distant memory … unless you really coming off a 6 day bender! Even these products have their limits!

Makeup and Prom Dresses – Blending for Beauty!

You have purchased your prom dress, shoes, jewelry, and handbag. You have decided on whether you will style your hair yourself or go to a beautician. Now you need to decide if you will do your own makeup or have it done professionally. With 2007 prom dresses, it’s all about fashion, and makeup is a part of that fashion statement that will make you shine!

If you are one that does not like to wear makeup, you will need to wear a small amount for your prom. Makeup will bring your features out and cover those unwanted blemishes.

If you have decided to do your own makeup, put on your makeup before putting on your prom dress. This is a precaution to protect your prom dress from any drops or spills that may take place while you are applying your makeup.

There are many tips for applying makeup that can bring out your natural beauty.

Foundation and Concealer

The first step in applying makeup is choosing the perfect foundation. This is done by matching the makeup with your skin tone and complexion. Always make sure the makeup is well blended and there are no foundation lines around the neck. For any visible blemishes or dark circles under the eyes, a concealer can be used. Just dab it on lightly and blend it in good with the foundation.

Eye Makeup

Once your foundation is applied, your eyes are the next important step. You do not want your eye shadow to match the color of your prom dress, but you do want it to compliment the dress. In order to highlight your eyes, you will use a lighter shade or the base color from the lash line to the brow. Use a darker shade as a contour along the upper lash line from the center toward the outer corner, then back along crease.

With an eyeliner pencil, draw a single line above upper lash line from inner to outer corner. Then, draw a line under your lower lashes from outer to inner corner.

Mascara adds the finishing touch to your eyes. Hold the brush vertically to stroke your lower lashes. Then, for your upper lashes, wiggle the brush back and forth at the base, and then sweep the brush upward.

Blush

You may want to add a little cheek color just to make people think you have a natural glow. For applying this, you can use a cheek color brush and this will make blending easier.

Lipstick

Your lips can be brought out by lining them with a pencil, then filling them in with a creamy lipstick. This will give definition and shape to your lips. Glossy lipstick can be used for that stunning look.

Powder

Finally, after all your prom makeup has been applied, dust your face with loose powder using light, downward strokes. This can be applied by using a powder brush

Body Makeup

You may want to experiment with the body makeup to highlight your prom dress. This is glitter powder or gel that can be applied to your arms and shoulders and you will look like you are under the stars

Just one tip: Do not use any of your friend’s makeup (especially eye makeup). Bacteria may be in the makeup because it has been opened and used. This can cause eye infection or pink eye. If you are having your makeup done professionally, carry your own lipstick with you.

These makeup tips can also be used for other occasions in which formal dresses, homecoming gowns and Quinceanera gowns are worn. Makeup and prom dresses can blend to bring out your beauty on your special evening!

Oily Skin Foundations – What is the Best Foundation For Oily Skin?

If you have oily skin, you know that it can be difficult to find oily skin foundations that will stay in place and look good without making your skin even oilier. Unfortunately, you probably also have other problems like enlarged pores and too much shine. You may have also have found that your makeup gets darker as the day goes by. This is caused by the oil mixing with the make-up causing it to darken. Luckily there are makeup options for those with an oily complexion.

So, what is the best foundation for oily skin? A good quality foundation that fights oil can greatly improve the appearance and the condition of your skin. Often women who have an oily complexion also suffer from blotchy, red, acne prone skin. Because of this foundation is extremely important, because a foundation’s job is to even out your skin tone and hide imperfections. The best foundation for oily skin is a full coverage matte foundation. Light or medium coverage will not work. When shopping for foundations, look for one that is designed especially for oily skin.

When applying makeup, use a makeup sponge, rather than your fingers. Using your fingers can actually cause you to transfer more oil onto your face. Don’t apply a large quantity. Use a small amount. You are looking for a sheer, light finish that will last longer. Applying a large amount of foundation is a mistake that many women make, regardless of their complexion type.

When shopping for oily skin foundations, choose one that is one shade lighter than your natural shade. This way, when the oils in your skin darken the foundation, it won’t be a problem. If you have slightly oily to medium oily skin, a brand like Clinique’s Stay-True Makeup Oil-Free Formula or Estee Lauder Equalizer Smart Makeup for Combination Skin or Almay’s Clear Complexion Liquid Makeup are a good choice. If you have very oily skin, Mac Studio Fix or Estee Lauder Double Wear Makeup are good choices.

If you have oily skin, you probably also have a tendency for acne. Visit http://www.acnesolutionsguide.com for more helpful acne tips and advice acne scars, acne home remedies, acne products, blackhead removal and how to get rid of acne fast

How Makeup Classes Can Skyrocket Your Career as a Makeup Artist

If you’ve always dreamed of becoming a professional, well-paid makeup artist, you might be able to realize your dreams sooner than you think. Helping others look their best can be a rewarding career both emotionally and financially. But just like any other profession, getting the proper training is essential for success. Makeup classes can help in more ways than one.

Learn Makeup Application for All Occasions

Perhaps you already know the basics of applying makeup, but that’s not all you should know to become a professional makeup artist. Makeup courses can teach you to apply makeup for all different special occasions. Applying makeup for a bride before her wedding is different than makeup for a glamour shot. There are many occasions where the right type of makeup makes all the difference, such as ceremonies, award presentations, black tie events, informal dances, proms, and parties.

Makeup schools also teach you to apply makeup properly for certain needs such as a photo shoot for a model, a live performance by a speaker, politician, ballet dancer, opera singer, or musician, or even an acting session for an actor before entering the filming studio.

Makeup for the camera is often much different than everyday makeup applications, so it’s wise to take some makeup lessons on these different methods.

Makeup Application for Different Skin Types

Another way in which makeup courses can help you develop your talents is they will teach you to apply makeup for a variety of skin types. Skin comes in different color shades, depending on the person’s skin pigmentation. There is also oily skin, dry skin, and skin that falls somewhere in between. You’ll need makeup lessons to learn about the skin types and what type of makeup should be applied to each individual’s skin.

Knowing how to determine the colors of makeup is also important. You should consider the person’s skin color, eye color, hair color, and the shape of their face to find the perfect color match. Depending on the type of makeup artist you will be, you might apply makeup to men as well. Mostly, this would be for photos or for the live camera.

Learn Other Makeup Techniques

Other makeup techniques you can learn by taking makeup classes include airbrush techniques, applying special effects makeup, applying makeup in salons or spas, working for cosmetic companies, and many others. You’ll also learn to work with people and how to assess their needs before applying their makeup to get just the right match for their personality and skin type.

Makeup classes can help you develop your skills as a makeup artist while teaching you the many techniques necessary to become a well-paid professional. If you are unable to take an entire college course, which can take years to complete, then try a makeup workshop that provides a concentrated course on makeup during a limited amount of time. Some of the greatest makeup artists, the best makeup workshops, and the most career opportunities can be found in Hollywood.

You’ll be helping others shine with gorgeous makeup in no time!

Permanent Cosmetics Costs: A Price Worth Paying?

Permanent cosmetics costs are a price that many women and men are willing to pay. The procedure involves using micropigmentation to impregnate the skin with ink of various colors. When this is done, the skin’s top layers will allow the color to come through, allowing for a permanent looking makeup application. When done well, you can’t tell it’s a tattoo and not real makeup.

The Costs

With those considerations of how well it can look, does the cost of permanent cosmetics really make it worth it? For many, the cost is just fine because of what it can provide to the patient. Those that have deformities, missing eyebrows or even those that can no longer apply makeup, this is a perfect solution.

To others, the costs are outweighed over time by the costs of replacing the makeup products they no longer need. For you, these costs can be virtually anything if you wish to gain the benefit of never having to apply makeup again.

Permanent cosmetics cost any place from just $300 on up to $600 to $1000 or more. It will cost much less to just have your eyebrows colored then it will to have all of your makeup applied in this manner. Since the application process is specific to the person’s needs and desires, the costs will reflect this.

Location Matters

The location in which you are in plays a great deal of a role in the cost of this procedure, too. Permanent tattoo prices are higher in upscale areas where doctors have much more experience in this cosmetic procedure. In rural areas, rates would be lower. The most expensive locations to get permanent cosmetics will be found in California, New York and the Florida’s southern regions.

Doctor Experience

If you select a cosmetic artist with quite a bit of experience in the field, or you select one that provides for specialties in this area, you can see how the costs would be higher in these cases. Location and doctor expertise are two very determining factors in the prices of permanent tattoo makeup.

Safety Counts

One of the most essential considerations anyone should have in determining the right place to have permanent cosmetics done is not just in the cost but in the safety of the location. Since your face will be highly susceptible to infection during and after your care, take care in selecting a location that provides for this carefully.

One way you can know that a location is a potential risk is if the location offers very low or cheap pricing. This is a time when you’ll want to pay attention to the safety.

Permanent cosmetics cost is something you have to weigh yourself. Taking the time to really understand the benefit will help. Finding a qualified cosmetic artist to do the work will make the cost well worth it.

How to Apply Invisible Makeup in 10 Easy Steps

The whole idea with natural makeup is to achieve a radiant face that is prettier than what nature had provided. Rosier lips. Flushed cheeks. Perfect skin that is soft and smooth and radiant. Long lush lashes. Bigger eyes. The works.

That can be achieved with makeup. Only difference is how obvious do you want it to be that you are wearing makeup?

Ideally, you should look prettier, yet look like you are not wearing any makeup at all. Is that possible?

Ironically, it takes the full slew of makeup to look like you aren’t wearing any. You would need a makeup base, foundation, concealer, translucent loose powder, powder blusher, lipstick, eyeshadow, mascara, koh and a facial spray.

The result is as if you aren’t wearing makeup, but you look so much prettier than you normally do when your skin is really makeup-free.

Makeup is all about enhancing your beauty, not detracting from it. Done right, skin looks radiant, eyes bigger and brighter and lips so much more kissable. Great makeup application does that for you.

Yes, you can go adventurous with dramatic eye makeup, or go for the gothic look, but hey, won’t it be more fun to have them guessing whether you were born naturally gorgeous?

There a few tricks to note.

1) You choice of color
2) Blend, blend, blend
3) Mist and Set.

Ready?

Step 1
After cleansing, toning and moisturizing your face, dot on makeup base and blend it with finger tips over your entire face.

Step 2.
Get a foundation that matches your skin exactly. Test the color on your jawline. It should disappear completely.
Dot that foundation on your face and blend it in so it disappears into your skin.

Step 3.
Are any blemishes visible? Are your dark circles still obvious? If you really need more coverage, use a concealer that matches your skin. Dab on just enough with a brush onto the blemishes or dark circles and blend that in until the concealer vanishes completely.

Step 4.
Pick a blusher in a natural color — the pink of your cheeks when you blush, or after a great workout. Or the golden glow you get on your cheekbones after a day out in the sun. Take a blusher brush and apply the blush on cheeks, forehead, chin and tip of your nose for all over radiance.

Step 5.
Choose an eyeshadow in a natural brown, peach or beige a shade or two darker than your natural skin tone. Apply that over your entire eyelid. Take another eyeshadow a few shades darker and apply into the crease of your eyelid to make eyes bigger. Take a large makeup brush and blend the eyeshadow on your eyelids so that no distinct lines between the different colors remain.

Step 6.
Dust the entire face with loose translucent powder to set the makeup so that it looks more natural.

Step 7.
Spritz face lightly with a facial mist to set the makeup.
Lay a kleenex over your face for a second.

Step 8.
Draw a fine line with kohl on the outer half of the upper lash line to make eyes look a little bigger. Smudge the line to soften it.

Step 9.
Apply a coat of mascara to open up the eyes and make lashes look lush and long.

Step 10.
Pick a lipstick that is the same color as the inside of your lip. Apply that with a lip brush. Blot the excess with kleenex.

Using Lip Gloss For That High Gloss Finish

Lip gloss was originally used to give a shiny finish to lips, while adding a subtle hint of color. Liquid or creamy glosses are usually packaged in tubes or bottles that contain sponge or brush applicators. Solid forms are packaged in containers similar to that of lipstick and are applied the same way. Small boxes and pots containing a gloss rely on the use of a lipstick brush or fingers for application.

Flavored lip gloss is generally marketed to young girls who are not believed to be old enough to wear lipstick. It gives a little color, plenty of scent or flavor and makes them familiar to taking care of their lips. Women use glosses to form the same type of finished look for their face as they would with lipstick, without the extreme color it gives off. There have been new formulations of glosses introduced in recently that act as lip plumpers.

They contain ingredients that momentarily make the lips fuller and softer. Lip gloss enhances a look, or creates diverse effects, such as sparkle or a high-gloss finish when used over lipstick or lip liner. Though some formulations include moisturizing and conditioning properties, they are typically for cosmetic purposes. Lip balms are frequently confused with glosses. The balms are created primarily to protect lips from damage. They use camphor, beeswax and essential oils to stay on the soft, delicate skin.

Lip balm creates a thin layer to seal in moisture and protect the lips from exposure to the elements, such as dry air and extreme temperatures. Aloe, Vitamin E and sunscreen are added to help condition the lips and keep them soft. Application methods are similar to lipsticks and glosses. Solid formulations are in sticks and can be applied directly to the lips. Balm in small boxes and pots are applied with your fingers. Lip gloss packaging is responsible for much of its popularity.

For younger women, it is in brightly colored tubes and sticks. It often features their favorite cartoon or fantasy characters. For teens and women, packaging that is inspired by skin care products, or that is developed by their favorite brand of makeup are the most popular. Department store cosmetic brands often advertise lipstick with a lip gloss counterpart. Drugstore brands have taken it one step further. They merge the benefits of the long lasting color of lipstick with a slick, high-shine finish of a gloss.

How to Cure Dry Skin Around Your Eyes

The skin around your eyes is extremely thin and sensitive. It is here that you will notice your first fine lines and wrinkles. It is here that you will first see signs of exhaustion and illness. Yes, there are many reasons why you can learn a lot about a person by simply looking at their eyes, and many reasons why you do not want to tell all of your secrets with yours. One of the most bothersome conditions that you may encounter when it comes to your eyes is dry skin around the eyes.

Wrinkles develop after skin becomes dry and loses elasticity. Considering that this will first occur around your eyes, there is good reason for you to address any dry skin issues as soon as they occur especially if they occur around the region of your eyes. You can do this either as a preventative measure or a curative measure.

Preventing Dry Skin around Eyes

If you follow a good skin care routine, it probably involves using moisturizers and products that do just fine at preventing dry skin on your face. But the skin on your eyes often needs a little more. Here are a few eye products that you should have in your makeup bag:

* Eye Makeup Remover – When you were 16, it was okay to sleep in your eye makeup all night, but not anymore. Leaving eye makeup on indefinitely is not good for your skin, but many products are waterproof. This tempts many to remove their eye makeup using a hot washcloth with soap and water. There are two things wrong with this scenario: soap is drying and a harsh washcloth can irritate and further dry your skin. To remove your eye makeup properly, you should use an oil-based or moisturizing eye makeup remover. These products work much better than soap and water without drying your skin.

* Spot treatments – It is never too early to start preventing wrinkles around the eyes. You can do this by using an antioxidant eye cream. There are two types of eye creams: a lighter treatment that can be used during the day and a heavier one that is used overnight.

* Sunglasses – The sun is the number one culprit when it comes to causing dry skin around the eyes. Be sure to wear sunscreen and cover the sensitive skin of your eyes up with sunglasses whenever you go outdoors.

* Health – If you are in poor health, your skin will show it. Be sure to drink plenty of water, eat a good diet, and exercise regularly to prevent dry skin. If you have any underlying health conditions that may cause dry skin, you should also take extra care to keep these under control and follow all of your doctor’s instructions.

Curing Dry Skin around Eyes

If you experience dry skin around your eyes even after all of your attempts at preventing it, you may need to take a different approach. There are many intense eye therapies out there that might be the perfect solution to your problem. Here is a brief guide to help you decide:

* Hydrating Eye Serums – Many people experience dry skin around their eyes simply because there are not that many oil glands in the skin of the eyes to help keep it moisturized. Without these vital oils, your skin quickly dries out when it comes into external factors such as the sun, cigarette smoke, dry furnace heat, and harsh weather conditions. To replenish these oils, use a hydrating eye serum. These can be applied directly underneath or even on top of your makeup several times throughout the day. Many also have added ingredients to help firm skin and fight dark circles.

* Intense eye treatments – If the dry skin on your eyes is particularly bothersome, you can use an intense eye treatment 2 to 3 times per week. These are similar to intense hydrating masques that you purchase for your face but are formulated for the sensitive skin of your eyes. Look for these in the same aisle that you would find face creams.

Dry skin on the eyes can be extremely itchy and easily irritated. The thin skin of the eye is also easily torn. This is why it is very important to address eye issues as soon as they occur. Avoid scratching and tugging on the skin and be sure to use enough moisturizers to get your skin into shape as quickly as possible.
