One of the more common operations to those who are aging and starting to notice unwanted wrinkles and sagging skin, is that of the face lift. But still today many people still ask if the face lift is painful. They hear stories on the internet and their local news about issues and complications associated with various plastic surgeries, but too few people talk about the good procedures.
The truth is that for a large percentage of people who undergo a face lift, the pain is very minute. They can usually get away with only taking an over the counter pain medication. In most cases, it is more of a little discomfort and irritation than it is painful.
Like any surgical procedure anesthetic is used before the operation. It is how they give the anesthetic that can be the difference of the amount of pain a patient receives after the surgery. Of the most common anesthetic procedure used, the best is considered to be what is known as the tumescent technique. This technique not only helps to aid with prevention of post-op pain, but also helps speed up not only the surgery itself but the healing process as well.
In the tumescent technique, the doctor would use a diluted local anesthetic and apply it into the underlying tissue in the areas that the work will be done. Not only does this help to reduce the pain, but it also helps reduce bleeding during the operation. Less bleeding means that the area can heal faster.
There are complications associated with a face lift that may lead to pain afterwards, but then again there are complications that are associated with any surgical procedure that may lead to pain during recovery. Like any other plastic surgery, you must do your research to ensure that you are well informed before you make any final decision with regards to altering your face. You will then be able to weigh your decision more accurately as to whether or not the possible outcome of the surgery is worth the risks that may be associated with the plastic surgery procedure in question.
Always remember to ask your doctor questions since what one person considers to be too painful, another may be able to tolerate without too much of an issue and your doctor would be able to help you better understand what type of pain that you may have to deal with after your surgery.

Many people wonder if plastic surgery is really worth the many risks that are associated with it. If a person is left wondering if it is worth it, then the real question they should be asking themselves is if they only perceive themselves to not be beautiful. The truth about plastic surgery is that many people actually choose it in order to help their self esteem. It is a way to improve something that no matter what they do, it is an eyesore not only to them but to those around them. At the same time, there are many people that choose plastic surgery to be something that they are not. A person may already be beautiful, but may decide that although those around them think they are perfect, that they have to have Angelina Jolie’s lips.
Most of the answers to this question truly come down to each and every person who even contemplates having plastic surgery done. Plastic surgery can fix things that made you feel like a true outcast. Maybe your breasts are too small or too large for your frame. Maybe your entire life, everyone thought you were frowning even if you were smiling. Maybe as a child something happened that left a hideous scar on a visible part of the body.
Many things like scars and inadequate breast to frame ratios can cause much undue stress to anyone who has had to deal with it their whole life. This stress then leads to emotional issues and eventually will effect the person’s self esteem even if they are unaware of these effects. It is not until a procedure is performed that a weight is lifted off their shoulder and they can look in the mirror for the first time in years and see their face with out a scar or actually notice a smile when they are smiling.
Cosmetic surgery is a way to help almost anyone feel better about who they are. Everyone has at least one thing about their body that they don’t like, plastic surgery is a way to remedy that abnormality that sticks out in your mind everyday as you gaze into the mirror.

Just like any business, where there is money there will always be imitators. The same rule can easily apply to plastic surgery. There are many people out there who are practicing plastic surgery without a license or even any type of qualifications. Luckily with the advent of modern technology it is possible to save yourself from succumbing to one of the illegitimate practitioners who call beauty parlors and day spas an office. These people have been known to take your money and leave you with the aftermath of a bad surgery job.
When it comes to plastic surgery, it can be broken down into either reconstructive surgery or cosmetic surgery. Fortunately in the reconstructive surgery field, there are very little bad surgery procedures for the simple fact that the patients are already in contact with qualified professionals. It is those who want cosmetic surgery that are willing to hand over the cash to a non qualified professional in order to save money. No matter how much you save, your personal health and well being is priceless and should not be left to the hand of a quack.
Even with the many organizations whose purpose in life is only to make sure that you are safe, still people make bad decisions. This does not only include people who need to save as much money as they can, but even many of Hollywood’s finest have received a botched surgery procedure. They can happen to almost anyone, but they are rare when dealing with a qualified licensed professional. In order to reduce your risks of having a bad procedure performed make sure you not only research the operation itself, but also the surgeon who will be performing the procedure.
The key of course is knowledge. Learn as much as you can, ask questions and also see a second surgeon if you have to just to compare their thoughts on the surgery. You may find that one surgeon is more informed than another which generally means that the more informed surgeon also has more experience in performing the procedure. Don’t become another statistical victim of bad plastic surgery.

The number of plastic surgeries performed each year continues to grow according to the ASPS (American Society of Plastic Surgeons). This phenomenon is true irrespective of gender, ethnicity and nationality.
In America, tummy tucks rose by 9% from 2005 to 2006 while the rate of less invasive procedures also grew. The most common procedures performed in 2006 were Botox injections, breast augmentations, nose operations and liposuction.
UK interest in plastic surgery is also on the increase. The number of British citizens requesting information during the first two weeks of 2008 was 32% larger than the number of requests during the first two weeks of 2007.
This year BAAPS (the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) found increases for both genders in a wide variety of cosmetic procedures. The total number of plastic surgeries performed by BAAPS members rose by 12.2% between 2006 and 2007. While the study found that women comprise the majority of cosmetic surgery patients, the number of males seeking such procedures also rose by 17.5% during this same time span.
Not only is the rise in fascination true for both genders, it also crosses all ethnic and cultural groups. An AAAPS (the American Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) study stated that there was a 400% rise in such procedures among non-Caucasian people between the years of 1997 and 2002.
Countries in Asia are also experiencing a rapid growth in the number of cosmetic operations. A public medical facility in Shanghai states that it performs 20,000 cosmetic operations each year. In 2001 NPR (National Public Radio) reported that such procedures are becoming more frequent among women in Iran despite the fact that Iranian women are required to wear clothing which hides most physical features.
So why does the frequency of these operations continue to grow? There is no single answer to this question.
Some experts believe that the reason lies in the increased financial accessibility as well as advances in technologies that have made cosmetic procedures less risky.
Experts have also pointed to the role of the media for the increased popularity. Television programs have placed plastic surgery in the public spotlight.
Still another factor results from some individuals having an operation to reverse earlier cosmetic procedures. Reversing an earlier procedure is becoming common enough that some surgeons are now referring to themselves as “revision plastic surgeons”. As much as 50% of the caseload of these surgeons may result from people wishing to reverse an earlier operation.
The growing popularity concerns some medical professionals. They worry that these operations are being treated as “a commodity” by the public. They stress the need for education as well as the need for careful deliberation. It is important to remember that there are risks just as with any type of surgery. Therefore, experts stress the importance of performing preoperative tests to ensure that these operations are only performed on healthy patients.
It is likely that interest in plastic surgery will continue to grow rapidly. Whatever the primary cause of this rapid growth, it is important that potential patients work with their doctors to take steps to ensure the safety and success of the operation.

If you are planning to go under abdominoplasty also known as tummy tuck then it will be interesting to know the procedure of this surgery. The tummy tuck is completed in three steps and the recovery period is very short. Keep on reading if you want to know step by step procedure of the surgery.
- The first step which is taken by the doctor is anesthesia. There are many methods of anesthesia which are used nowadays. The person who is planning to undergo surgery should consult an anesthesiologist to choose the best method which suits him because methods of anesthesia used varies from person to person.
- The second step which is taken by the surgeon is incision which is made between the pubic hair line and the navel. The length of the incision is decided according to the changes which are planned to be made. The aim of the first incision is removal of extra fat and repairing of weak muscles.Sometimes a second incision is also made to remove extra fat from the upper abdominal area.
- The third and final step is closing of the incision with the help of sutures.Sometimes a temporary tube is placed under the skin for the removal of extra fluid or blood. This is done to reduce the risk of external infections. Special instructions are given to patient so that he can take care of his surgical wound. In the beginning the results are not seen due to swelling and bandages but you can see your firm and flat abdomen after few weeks of operation.

The biggest risk of getting a nose job, or rhinoplasty as it’s technically called, is not a health complication. The biggest risk is that you may not be happy with the result. The majority of patients are very satisfied with the results. These are the patients who did thorough research and chose a physician with care. However, there are some who either do not research completely or chose with care, but still are not happy with the outcome.
Bad Nose Jobs
Once the operation is over, and you find that you didn’t get improvements you wanted, don’t despair. Corrective rhinoplasty is an increasingly common procedure. It is a little different from the primary operation, but it is a growing industry.
Patients who suffer from various nasal deformities find the corrective aspects of the surgery beneficial. Remember, a nose job is not permanent. You can always go back and get it fixed.
The only problem is that you have to wait for a designated period before you go back. Like any operation, a rhinoplasty requires a recovery period for the scar tissue to heal. To have a correction, you have to wait several months before you can go back to a surgeon.
Finding a Surgeon
It used to be difficult finding skilled corrective rhinoplasty surgeons. It was a highly specialized skill, and not many doctors practiced it. However, with the rise in plastic surgery all over the world, more and more plastic surgeons are taking on corrective reconstruction.
Get It Right the First Time
Look for a plastic surgeon with knowledge and experience. Referrals are generally the best way to find a good plastic surgeon. Ask a friend or acquaintance who is satisfied with their procedure. You should also check with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons to see who is certified in the field.
If it means traveling for the surgery, by all means, do it. Don’t go with a doctor only because he is local and convenient.
One way to check out plastic surgeons is to have a look at their former clients. All good plastic surgeons keep files of before and after pictures of their past patients. Plastic surgeons are always happy to show these off, and if you happen to talk to a plastic surgeon that doesn’t have any, move on to someone else.
The consultation is the key to getting the nose you want. Most poor results can be prevented during the consultation. Be clear about what you want. Bring pictures for the plastic surgeon to get an idea of what you want. Also, consider whatever ideas they bring to the table.
By far, most patients are happy with the results. Imagine, having the perfect nose that you’ve always wanted!
The number of people getting nose jobs is on the rise. Keep in mind it’s possible to get poor results. Be sure that you address what you want in your consultation. In your search for plastic surgeons, Washington D.C. may offer what you need. http://www.cpsdocs.com/plastic_surgery_facial_nose.html

Have you ever thought about how a plastic surgery consultation is different from a regular surgery consultation?
Usually, your primary care physician refers you to a specialist. They have already decided what they will do based on what needs to be done. It’s pretty simple for everybody involved.
But, with plastic surgery things are very different. You are going to your cosmetic surgeon by choice, to make improvements on your body. It’s all up to you, which means there are some pretty big decisions to be made!
It can seem stressful, deciding exactly what you want done, but that’s just what the consultation is for. The best thing to do is be prepared for your consultation, and make sure that you spend as much time as you need deciding with your surgeon exactly what will be done. Here are some ideas about what to expect from your consultation …
First off, the consultation may be long. That is a good thing! Sure, you want to get the job done and get out of there so you can be sipping your coffee at home watching TV.
But, a plastic surgery consultation is a bit more complicated than your regular medical consultation. You have to go over things thoroughly and completely with your surgeon, and consider all the options they put on the table for you. You can expect to spend some quality time with your plastic surgeon, so be ready for it!
When you make an appointment to see the doctor, what do the clinic staff usually ask you? They want to know your name, address and phone number, insurance information, and a little idea of what’s bothering you.
A plastic surgeon’s office staff will want to know the same things, but they may want to go more in-depth about what you want done. You may find yourself having a pre-consultation consultation with the staff before you even see the doctor!
This, too, is a good thing. This means that you’ve found a good plastic surgeon, who cares about getting their patient exactly what they want. Expect to give the staff some idea of your needs before you go in to see the doctor.
Keep in mind that one of the purposes of the consultation process is to find out if you need what you want. In other words, it’s difficult sometimes to know exactly what kind of operation we need to achieve our goals, and a plastic surgeon with experience and extensive knowledge of specific procedures can be the one who determines how best to reach them.
Most importantly, plastic surgery should never be an impulsive decision.
When you go in for your consultation, you can expect the doctor to offer other ideas. In this situation, they’re not turning down your ideas, but trying to think of better ways to achieve your body-enhancing goals.
Always remember that your consultation is the most important part of your entire plastic surgery operation. What goes on in that hour or two is the main determiner of whether you will get what you want out of your procedure or not. If you are in doubt about the operation, give yourself some time to sleep on it and make sure it’s what is right for you.
Look for plastic surgeons who are board certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery in Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery in general surgery. One such plastic surgeon in Bakersfield CA is an expert in many cosmetic procedures. http://www.lussiermd.com/
